What a blessing it was to have all the toys and coats for Christmas for our children and their families. We distributed to over 1000 children from our facility on the Dec. 22nd and we shared half of the pick up we received with Olga Naranjo who has an outreach on the North Side to Hispanic children. There were two other ministries that we were able to share with also which brought the number of children served to be over 3000. We brought one of the cases of Lego's to NY with us when we came to visit our children and grandchildren. Tomorrow we will be handing
them out to a group of low-income children in a after school program in Yonker's NY. So your blessings are going all the way to NY to bless children.

I recently attended Christmas Gift 2011 on Saturday December 17th. This was my first time doing something like this. I actually found out about it through Zach Wooden. I helped collect coats for him through my work. Zach told me about Christmas Gift and that we should consider helping with it. He told me there are no words to decribe how you feel and what you see. I have to say he was right!! There are no words. I have told so many people about Operation Care's Christmas Gift and what it's about and what they do for these homeless men, women, and children. I have a troop ready to sign up with me for next year already. I think what Susie is doing is AWESOME and I am so thankful that God chose me to be part of this. The people I handed gifts to and the faces I saw will forever have a footprint in my heart. I will definitely be back again next year.

Thank You from the Bottom of My Heart!

I attended the Operation Care Christmas Gift yesterday in Dallas. I went to the homeless line and explained that, even though I have a place to live, my family struggles to pay bills and eat... and then I asked if I could come in. They welcomed me, hugged me, washed my feet... I even got a new pair of shoes - that in and of itself brought tears of joy to my eyes! It has been a long, long time since anyone has washed my feet - let alone me getting some new shoes. I got some much needed blankets which kept me very warm last night.

I just wanted to say that I and my kids volunteered at the Christmas Party for the homeless a year ago. It was the most incredible experience for us as a family. We cannot wait to meet all the wonderful people again this year.

My first experience with Operation Care Ministry was an event at The Bridge on Saturday, August 27th. While I was not sure what this occurrence would entail, the more I listened to Susie Jennings share with the volunteers of what to expect, the higher my level of trepidation rose. What I did not expect was the way God would use me to move from my comfort zone, how He would speak through me, and how I would be blessed.

My Story

My name is Zach Wooden, and I am a Senior at Plano West Senior High School. For my entire life, I have had a great sense of compassion for those who are less fortunate than I.

“I (Dirk) was coming back from Chiloquin (half hour drive from our home in Klamath Falls OR) on a Saturday. I was listening to CSN radio network 97.1 and heard an interview between two gentlemen regarding a ministry that washed the feet of 10,000 homeless and put new socks and shoes on their feet".
